All People’s School is a preschool in Berkeley, CA that focuses on Reggio Emilia-inspired teaching, social justice and green living. As a school that is community-based, i’ve collaborated with parents and educators to help revitalize the school’s identity. There was a need for a logo that would represent both sister schools — Aquatic Park Preschool and Pixar Children’s School — that represented the school’s evolution, value’s and future aspirations.

The new logotype was written by a child at All People’s School. (She is currently in second grade, and her handwriting looks really different now!) It celebrates the unique perspective of our children in the community, represents beauty in imperfection, and reminds us that we are constantly growing and learning. The center mark was inspired by real children at play, forming a letter A against an organically shaped circle. It expresses our beliefs in the importance of human connection, relationships, and the power of play in learning. It is also a visual mark that communicates familiarity and invites recognition for those in our community who cannot yet read!
