When creating the visual identity for our clients Bill and Lane, we wanted to stay true to who they were and the mission of their company—to bring Mediterranean varietals to the Bay Area and introduce grapes to grow along the Mendocino coast. Though winemakers at heart, our clients both came from backgrounds in the field of science and wanted to inject the spirit of innovation and ingenuity into their branding. We were tasked to design labels for their first three varietals where they can continue to reuse as a template for their future wines.
A modern and clean font customized to include subtle rounded corners paired with a deep blue helped convey expertise and sophistication with a forward-thinking approach. The brand mark was created to resemble waves found along both California and Mediterranean coast. Within the waves we integrated the letters “w” and “l” as a nod to the founder’s first initials.
